BoxedTofu Comments: Watermelon Poisoning

  • Rob_Hoolan · 1 year ago
Why not a face shaped watermelon?
  • WOTDsctoo · 1 year ago
A while back a radio station in my area held a contest called "hold your wee for a wii."
(Drink water --> Don't go to bathroom --> win Nintendo Wii)

A woman died from water poisoning. :(

But honestly, since salt was on the watermelon, you were probably good. I think that's how too much water kills, right? Diluting sodium in your body...that's what I heard Idk.

Anyway, be careful, no dead koichi!
  • Pachi_PMT · 1 year ago
I remember hearing about that story... : (
  • Pachi_PMT · 1 year ago
Sorry for the double reply. For some reason, Disqus won't let me edit my last reply...

Anyway, yeah, I think that's why you get water poisoning. So I guess if you drink alot of water, eat something salty to balance it out. Of course then you might get bloated...

Watermelon and cream cheese is a texture disaster.
  • Delilah · 1 year ago
Wow water poisening, i've never heard of that >.<
I hope you feel better though. next time try to.. um.. contain yourself with the watermelon's taste-yness lol x]

    Watermelon.... (゚⊿゚)
Don't like it, don't need it.
I just don't like melons of any kind.
Can't even stand the smell of watermelon.
But, oranges + salt = good or strawberries + salt = good.
Did you ever try adding sugar? Hahaha. Strawberries + sugar = good.
  • Sougen02 · 1 year ago
Lol fruits + sugar = too sweet!
    =P
  • Mizuu · 1 year ago
Your photos here are getting more and more hilarious, I love it.

    Also, おだいじに!
  • Tofugu_Erin · 1 year ago
    Aw, your watermelon is happy.

Be careful, though, it's also a diuretic.
  • koichi · 1 year ago
    ew, gross!
  • Maciel · 1 year ago
haha i wish i had smiling watermelon
but that would make me feel sad for it since im gonna eat it >=D
so i would just draw a squiggly line so it could look scared
  • Mai · 1 year ago
    YAY FOR SALT :DD.

I eat salt with all of my fruits: Watermelon, apples, limes, lemons, pears, cherries, you name it!

I will one day end up with a high blood pressure due to so much sodium :(.

Hope you feel better. I've never gotten water poisoning, nor do I know what it is.
  • koichi · 1 year ago
You and I both! Salt rules.
Water poisoning just happens when you drink too much water. According to Wikipedia, it is the "disturbance in brain functions that results when the normal balance of electrolytes in the body is pushed outside of safe limits by over-consumption of water"

I didn't have it that bad, just very very mildly. Still, don't feel great.
  • Mai · 1 year ago
o_oic;;. Well its okay. I have a cold. So we both feel horrible. :(.
  • DeeLeigh · 1 year ago
I gotta say...I have yet to experience water poisoning! Are you okay?!? I want watermelon now...excuse me!
  • JackTamaki · 1 year ago
:( I've heard that water poisoning can be dangerous. But I guess you're feeling good enough now to be posting. Btw, my mom always eats her watermelon with salt too, but I still can't bring myself to put salt on any kind of fruit. It would be like... putting caramel on white rice.
  • koichi · 1 year ago
putting caramel on rice is one thing - putting salt on watermelon is wonderful, and I think many people do it. I just love salt, I guess :)
  • tekuno · 1 year ago
I don't get why salt on watermelon is so good :P
  • Pachi_PMT · 1 year ago
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think putting salt on watermelon is suppossed to bring out the sweetness of it more. I've never tried it personally, though. :D
  • koichi · 1 year ago
I think it brings out the saltiness of the salt. mmmm, saltiness.
  • tekuno · 1 year ago
Oh, I forgot to ask....how much would that watermelon cost in japan? I heard they are expensive there?
  • koichi · 1 year ago
Oof, beats me. They are definitely much more expensive, though there are different varieties. Some go for tonnns of money, some go for just tons of money, ya know?
  • little_bee · 1 year ago
Cream cheese, huh? Gross. I’ve never tried salt. What else tastes good on watermelon?
  • koichi · 1 year ago
    More salt!
  • Chris_paros · 1 year ago
Apparently feta cheese (the soft white greek one) tastes really good with watermelon although I'd have to agree with salt! (NaCl For President!!)
  • yza · 1 year ago
    XD lolz
  • xixi · 1 year ago
I've actually never heard of putting salt on watermelon... or any other fruit for that matter! O_O""

    What is this!! XD
-goes to try salt + watermelon-
  • Sougen02 · 1 year ago
    Water poisoning?
Do the symptoms include having to go to the bathroom often? lmao
(to go pee obviously 0.0 )
  • Viet · 1 year ago
Haha not exactly. Drinking too much water reduces the concentration of compounds in your body. In other words, you are diluting your body. In the case of water poisoning it's the reduction of electrolyte to unsafe levels. You are pretty much dead before you can even take a piss.
  • stshores24 · 1 year ago
That would ruin your day, I imagine.
  • stshores24 · 1 year ago
More power to you, Ko; I can't eat watermelon (apparently I'm allergic?), but I love the taste. :'(
  • Julie · 1 year ago
Whoa, I didn't think that was common! And I didn't know people called it water poisoning. I hope you aren't joking, because when I was 19 I was in the hospital for two days and hooked up to an IV because the doctor said I had a sodium / electrolyte imbalance from drinking too much water. I fainted three times and lost my vision and hearing for 5 minute intervals. It was the only time I ever went to the hospital. Crazy! The doctor said that young people don't usually get it. It's for old ladies, mostly. You can apparently alleviate it by consuming a lot of salty things or starch like bread before it gets too bad. Strange.

Really funny pictures! I like your glasses.

hence, i always drink lotsa and lotsa of H20 for beauty purposes (keep skin from drying n stuff)

salt with melon?!? okay, that is got to be something new...
i ate about 3 melons for the past one week...and all plainly eaten without thoughts of salt addition..

i love your way of decorating the melon..

  • Literati · 10 months ago
    This reminds me of a friend of mine's story about his grandpa... xD;;

"My grandpa liked salt so much, he generously layered it on everything he ate, including his apples."

And every time I think of it, I burst into tears laughing. I can't believe there are other people who salt their fruits. O:
