    • yeah, that would make sense, since the freezing point of ice gets lower as its salinity rises, therefore it WOULD be colder when you freeze salt water.

Going Organic Strawberry Picking

Started by koichi · 1 year ago

About a week ago I went organic strawberry picking at a U-pick farm near portland with my friend AdamD. He’s responsible for my part-time employment over at BestPlaces.net, a sweet website if you want to know some data about someplace in the US.

I remember growing strawberries in my backyard as a child. These strawberries were [...]

  • Godhand's a great game
  • I just finished watching the koichiben video on this.
The sky was so pretty!!! 8D

The rural setting through me for a loop for a sec, but I recovered. (whew)
Anyway, the spiderman ball looks pretty nifty. I hope the ice cream was delicious.
  • yes, it was a very nice day! Not too hot, either.
    ice cream = delicious
  • You should try the polish way of eating strawberries;
Just blend the strawberries with sour cream, put them in a microwave for a few seconds and you'll have a strawberry soup. Yes, I know, I thought it sounded gross too, but it's tasty. It's like soup, but instead of vegetables you have strawberries :-)
  • By blend do you mean with a blender? >> and if so, how blended should they be? Also, what ratio of strawberry to sour cream would you recommend? As you can tell I am intreagued and would like to try this ;P
  • Yes! with a blender. Not too blended because then you'll get juice or a smoothie. I only put two spoons of sour cream per five strawberries.
    LOL, you're gonna love it.
  • Wow! That was really good O__O I ran over to my local market to pick up some strawberries and sour cream lol XD I think I blended it a bit too much though, I need to refine my technique. I think I may add a bit of sugar next time, too.

Thank you so much for the idea though! ;D
  • Like I said when we talked last weekend, you can also make ice cream in coffee cans!

Let's do that when I come back up!
  • i need a job too =( especial;ly if i can make strawberry in my freetime
  • interesting.. would be cool to do, sorta wish i was there
  • Looks like fun! Too bad there aren't any places like that close to where I live.
  • mmm! Strawberries are delicious :D strawberry jam is made of awesome, too! I've never thought of trying out that bagel thing o_o but I will have to now, that just sounds delicious.

Unfortunately strawberry season has already passed us over there, I think D: It's always a lot of fun, with the festivals and what-not. Oh well, there's always next year! :D
  • i always wanted to be a strawberry farmer! I mean, when I was 12, but still...that was one of those dreams that were not approved by my parents...that and unicorn breeding.
  • But unicorn breeding is such a lucrative business! I'm shocked that any parent would frown upon such a lofty dream. Pshaw on them I say! Pshaw!
  • you cant breed unicorns, naturally because the breading organs of a unicorn is in the antler thing.. and that is way to graphic for any child to watch, imo.
  • Perhaps this helps explain why I am how I am today... I.. I never really thought about it.. D:

I need to go rethink my life. brb.
  • I know! and they still had the nerve to tell me that they didn't exist! What the hell?
  • D: That's a shame.. I hear these days that the business is becoming a bit crowded though, so maybe it's good that you were "forced" to move on?

You can so go back and train to become a unicorn breeder now though. You're an adult, you get to decide what that means now!
  • >< It's so hard nowadays, with all the Harry Potter craze, everyone wants to be a Unicorn breeder.
I'm glad I got the chance to talk to someone who knows about this lucrative business ^_^, I'll start saving some money now and maybe in a few years I'll have my own....unicorn farm? :P
  • *cough cough* organic strawberries? *cough*
  • Obviously you've never had to deal with the diabolical and evil nature of those gigantic genetically altered strawberries whose only goal in life is to rid the world of daffodils and raindows. Diabolical indeed.

PS. Organic strawberries taste better, too.
  • >.<.. you guys are sillier than me, never thought id see the day
  • :3 That's not such a bad thing though, is it? I just get these strange thoughts in my head is all <_<

PS. where is your icon from? it looks ever so familiar D:
  • love hina
    >.< Mutsumi and tama-chan the turtle on her head
  • Oh! Yes! Dear lord it's been so long since I've seen that series @.@ Brings me back to my youth, it does.
  • I heard somewhere that eating too many unwashed strawberries can kill you.
  • well that's a small freaking world. i'm pals with adamD and started edufire with jon. love the interwebs sometimes. :)
  • And adamD was the frood who told me about eduFire! He told me about you too! Nice to finally meet you (digitally?)!
  • haha... love it :D
